Industrial Parks in Heilongjiang

Caption: Daqing High-tech Park (DQHTP) is located in east Daqing, a key industrial city of Heilongjiang province. It was awarded state-level status in 1992. The total land area of the park is 55.35 km2.
Daqing has the world's 11th largest oil field, and is China's most important petroleum industry base. In 2003, the Daqing Oil Field produced 48.4 million tons of crude oil, accounting for nearly 30% of China's total output.
After 40 years of exploitation, Daqing now faces the problem of resource depletion. If new exploitation sites are not found, it is estimated that crude oil production will decrease to 30 million by 2010 and 20 million in 2020.
To realize its diversification of economic development, and to leverage on its natural resources, Daqing has started paying more attention to fine chemicals and other high-tech industries centered on oil production. Based on this consideration, DQHTP was established. It is the only high tech industrial park centered on oil and oil processing.
